Our Community and Volunteering
At JMW, we seek to support the community in which we operate and recognise the importance of volunteering. All of our employees are permitted to take two days paid leave per year to undertake charitable and voluntary work.
We undertake monthly collections for local charities such a winters coats, basic family supplies, Christmas presents and food collections.
Our people have helped at Wood Street Mission who are always in need of volunteers to help with the sorting of the donations they receive. Depending on the time of year volunteers may be sorting clothes, school uniforms, toys or food parcels.
Groups of volunteers have also taken part in team challenges such as painting a scout campsite or helping at Manchester Mind’s allotment sites in South and North Manchester by painting, de-weeding and digging the vegetable patch. They have also helped at the gardens in the Maggies centre in Manchester and at both St Ann's Hospice sites.
We are working with the Salford Foundation have had teams of volunteers go into local schools and work with a small group of children designing the artwork for and a new business or playing a game which makes them think about credit and debt.
We also encourage Partners and employees to take up school governorships, trusteeships, non-executive directorships and voluntary roles within charities and community projects - some of our lawyers provide advice to charitable organisations on a pro-bono basis. We support local school, colleges and universities too by offering placements for students looking to gain work experience.
