Abbie joined JMW in September 2019 in our conveyancing department and transitioned over to our family law team in 2020 as an administrative assistant where she remains but now as a trainee solicitor via a departmental only training contract, primarily assisting Michael Chapman’s team.

Abbie assists the team in complex family law matters ranging from divorce and financial remedy to private children law. Her case load has previously included an international element and Abbie has specific experience with cases involving high net worth and ultra-high net worth clientele.

Abbie has assisted on cases including:

  • Arrangements for children, including applications for internal and external relocation;
  • Divorce and financial settlements, including those with complex business assets and third-party intervenor claims; and
  • Non-molestation and occupation orders.

Abbie is recognised for her personable demeanour, ameliorating herself to clients as a result of her can-do attitude. Abbie remains conscious of the personal and sensitive nature of the work which she does, ensuring that each client’s case is handled with the upmost sensitivity.

Abbie’s previous experience in our leading residential conveyancing department gives her a greater understanding of the processes surrounding property transactions which often prove essential and incidental to the work of the family department.

What her clients say

Prior to joining JMW, Abbie attended University in Leeds achieving a 2:1 Law degree alongside working in a clinical negligence and financial misselling law firm to gain an insight of the working world. After 4 years, Abbie returned to Manchester where she completed the LPC and achieved a distinction.

Abbie regularly participates in various charitable activities, ranging from midnight wanders, lengthy runs, assisting in homeless shelters, bag packing and most recently sky dives! Over the years Abbie has raised close to £10,000 for an array of charities such as Day One Trauma, Cancer Research, Willow Wood Hospice and The Christies Hospital.

Abbie also has a large family and close to a football team of nieces and nephews which keeps her extremely busy, as well as her two horse-sized Labradors that walk her rather than the other way round!
