Hayley joined JMW as a Solicitor in September 2016 and handles a broad range of commercial disputes on behalf of businesses and individuals.
Her work includes advising clients on shareholder disputes, contractual disputes, claims concerning breach of directors’ duties, warranty claims and applications for urgent injunctive relief. Hayley also has experience in dealing with High Court Search and Seize Orders. She has acted on behalf of clients who have been served with such orders and has also carried out the role of Supervising Solicitor.
Hayley plays a key role in assisting with large, complex pieces of litigation. Her experience includes:
- Acting on behalf of minority shareholders in circumstances where they have been excluded from the management of the business, or where the majority shareholder has been notified of such a claim.
- Bringing claims for breach of warranty on behalf of purchasers of a business post-acquisition, often within the food manufacture and testing industry.
- Bringing and defending claims for breach of contract in a variety of different commercial contexts including wrongful termination, interpretation of clauses and, unpaid sums due under the contract. Hayley acts on behalf of one of the largest car parking companies in England and deals with all of their breach of contract claims.
- Bringing and defending claims on behalf of companies or insolvency practitioners for breach of directors’ duties.
- Obtaining and securing urgent applications for injunctive relief including freezing orders.
Hayley graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2012 and completed her LPC at the College of Law, Manchester in 2012/13. She trained at a high street firm in Buxton, Derbyshire before qualifying in 2016 and moving to JMW.
Outside of work, Hayley enjoys good food, wine, and travelling to new places. She is an enthusiastic gym goer and plays netball in her local league. Hayley dedicates some of her free time to volunteering and taking part in fundraising challenges for the charity, Purple Heart Wishes. She has recently completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge and has previously completed the National 3 Peaks challenge. She also has a keen interest in motorsport and can often be found attending various race meetings around the country at a weekend.
