James joined JMW in October 2022 as a Solicitor in the Restructuring and Insolvency department.
James has experience in a wide range of corporate and personal insolvency matters including:
- Advising office holders on potential claims against directors including recovery of DLA balances and breach of duties;
- Advising office holders in relation to antecedent transactions and suggesting appropriate methods of recovery;
- Drafting statutory demands, winding up petitions and bankruptcy petitions; and
- Preparing court applications including possession and sale, fixing the basis of office holder remuneration, block transfers and extensions to administration periods.
James graduated from the University of Leeds with a 2.1 in his LLB in 2012, before obtaining a distinction in his LPC with an MSc in Law, Business and Management from the University of Law in Manchester in 2017. James was also awarded 3 prizes including a prize for the highest mark in Dispute Resolution. James then obtained a training contract at Horwich Farrelly Solicitors in the Recoveries department before qualifying as a solicitor in November 2019 at Howes Percival LLP in the Insolvency team.
Outside of work James enjoys watching football and is a season ticket holder at Manchester United. James also has a passion for travelling and has visited every continent except South America. James likes to unwind by reading, playing video games, watching films and building Lego in his spare time.
