Laura joined JMW in September 2024 in the Private Client Department.
Laura experience covers the full range of private client related matters with an emphasis on estate and succession planning and wealth protection for high net worth individuals. She has particular expertise in:
- Drafting complex wills with a particular focus on tax planning and asset protection;
- Creating trusts, again with a focus on tax planning and asset protection;
- Advising on Inheritance tax and capital gains tax mitigation using a variety of estate planning strategies;
- Acting as a professional trustee, trust protector and professional executor;
- Dealing with estate administration and post death deeds of variation;
- Considering the issues of mental capacity and implementing Lasting Powers of Attorney
Laura qualified as a solicitor in 2007 having undertaken her training contract at Halliwells LLP before moving with the same private client team to Laytons LLP and Gateley Plc. She then spent almost five years working closer to home before heading back to the city to join JMW.
Laura is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), a professional body focused on assisting people with their future planning requirements. She also lectures frequently to groups of professionals on a wide range of private client matters.
In her spare time, Laura is usually found taxiing her children to various sporting events and planning and booking family trips away. This year she has been frozen in Lapland and pleasantly warm in Svalbard!
