Matthew joined JMW in July 2024 as a Solicitor in the Restructuring & Insolvency Department.
Matthew has experience in a range of corporate and insolvency matters both contentious and non-contentious including:
- Advising officeholders and directors in connection with misfeasance and debt recovery claims.
- Advising on validity of security and enforcement options including the appointment of receivers.
- Advising on business and asset sales from insolvent companies including pre-packaged administration sales.
- Preparing court applications on behalf of officeholders including for example possession and sale applications in bankruptcy proceedings.
Matthew read law at Nottingham Law School graduating with a First Class (Hons) degree in 2013, before completing the Legal Practice Course with distinction in 2015 and the Solicitors Qualifying Examination in 2023. Before qualifying in 2023, Matthew worked as an insolvency and business restructuring paralegal for 6 years in London and Suffolk.
Outside of work Matthew is an avid reader being a member of three book clubs and enjoys exploring the bars and eateries that Manchester has to offer.
