Inheritance Act claim on behalf of Son
Ben Wilson, Partner in our Contentious Trusts and Probate team, recently acted for an adult child in a claim against his father’s Estate under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
The client was a son of the Deceased who had worked in his father’s business for a number of years. Despite being promised an inheritance he was disinherited leaving him in a precarious financial position. As the client was unable to afford legal costs, we agreed to pursue the matter on a “no win, no fee” basis.
We sent a robust letter of claim setting out the claim in full. In a bid to avoid court proceedings we made a settlement offer and ultimately negotiated a substantial 5 figure sum for the client. The client was very happy with the result which was achieved quickly and at proportionate cost.
