JMW’s Catastrophic Injury team have an exciting opportunity for two Paralegals to join the team in Manchester due to continuing expansion.
The Department:
Each year, JMW’s Personal Injury department secures millions of pounds in compensation for clients across the UK by taking positive action on their behalf and presenting the strongest possible case. Our team of expert personal injury lawyers produce some of the best results in the industry. They pride themselves on providing a high level of customer service and understand how an injury can have an impact on clients' day-to-day lives.
Over decades of success, the department has received recognition from numerous legal institutions, including a 2025 Legal 500 Top Tier ranking, Chambers and Partners Band 1 ranking, and the Corporate Supporter Award at the inaugural Child Brain Injury Trust Diamond Awards, for our ongoing support and fundraising for the charity.
The Roles:
This is a great opportunity to work with and learn from leaders in the field in respect of catastrophic injury litigation and develop legal knowledge. These roles will involve supporting senior members of the team with a mixed caseload of brain, spinal cord and amputation claims.
Work will include tasks such as:
- Drafting witness statements
- Attending conferences with counsel and experts and taking detailed notes
- Court documents
- Obtaining, reviewing, and collating records
- Reviewing medical reports
- Researching case law on liability and quantum
- Liaising with clients and updating on case progress
- Preparing instructions to medical experts and counsel
- Preparing court bundles
- Dealing with billing and disbursement payments
These roles will initially be fully-office based during a settling in period, after which there will be the option to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience of Personal Injury work and catastrophic injury claims is essential.
- Work well in a team.
- Ability to pro-actively prioritise and complete work to a high standard set by senior fee earners.
- Excellent client care skills - communicate with clients of the department in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Strong academic record.
- Experience using Proclaim Case Management System would be advantageous but not essential.
