JMW’s Restructuring and Insolvency department in Manchester are recruiting for up to two Paralegals to join the team due to continued growth.
The Department
The team at JMW offers practical, specialist advice to insolvency practitioners, businesses, individuals, directors, lenders and other stakeholders in both contentious and non-contentious areas of restructuring and insolvency on both a domestic and cross-border basis. We pride ourselves on being able to offer clear and concise legal advice, providing tailored guidance that is suited to the unique requirements of our clients.
The successful candidate(s) will be joining a cohesive and friendly team which goes above and beyond to support each other to produce work of first class excellence.
The Opportunity
The Paralegal role(s) will be assisting our more senior solicitors with their caseloads as well as managing their own agreed caseload (with supervision). You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of R&I matters including contentious and non-contentious work and assisting on LPA receiverships and company administrations/liquidations generally.
The team offer a supportive environment, allowing you to collaborate with and learn from our experienced Solicitors and Partners. There will be development opportunities for the right person.
Some previous relevant experience will be essential, preferably in Restructuring & Insolvency work (contentious, non-contentious, or both), Commercial Litigation, or Property law.
This is a full-time position (35 hours a week) based in our head office in Spinningfields, Manchester. The role will initially be fully office-based with the option of hybrid working available after a settling in period.
About you
The ideal candidate would have:
- Previous relevant experience in Commercial Litigation, Restructuring & Insolvency and/or Property law.
- A strong academic background.
- An understanding of court processes.
- Experience of dealing with Land Registry and Titles.
- Familiarity with CE-filing and HM Land Registry.
- Knowledge of the CPR and/or Insolvency Act would be desirable (although not essential).
- Excellent IT skills particularly with experience in Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate well orally and in writing, including dealing directly with clients when required.
- Strong team working ethic.
