YOUTH MOBILITY VISA
On 6th April 2022, the Youth Mobility visa - also referred to as the Tier 5 Youth Mobility visa - was updated to change the requirements for applications, and lower the barrier to entry for certain nationals, depending on their country of origin, in line with the Youth Mobility Scheme UK.
This category of visa was initially created to allow young people easier access to and travel through the countries that are signatories to the visa agreement. With the new laws in place, some may find it easier to accomplish this, so it is more important than ever to learn how the changes might affect you.
At JMW, our expert immigration solicitors are specialists in helping people to enter the UK and apply for visas across all categories. If you are looking to travel to the UK via the Youth Mobility visa, our team will be able to help you by explaining exactly what the Youth Mobility Scheme visa requires you to do, assessing your situation and determining whether this type of visa is suitable for your needs, and advising you on the steps you will need to take next.
Call 0345 872 6666 now, or fill in an online enquiry form and we will return your call at a time convenient for you.

The process of applying for a visa can be long and complicated, which is why you should hire a professional to help you to understand it. Even one mistake can lead to long setbacks, and may mean you need to start your application from the beginning, so it is best to approach the application process carefully in the first instance.
If your application is refused, or you are concerned about your chances of being accepted, discuss your situation with our team and we will be happy to help.
What are the New Updates to the Youth Mobility Scheme Visa?
Effective from 6th April 2022, the new updates to the Youth Mobility visa UK are:
- Removal of outdated terms - ‘sponsorship’ and ‘deemed sponsorship’.
- Clarification of the fact that nationals previously referred to as having ‘deemed sponsorship’ do not require further assurances from their home government in the form of any sponsorship application.
- Further clarification of documentation requirements.
- Additional countries were added to the list, such as India.
While this means that eligibility for the visa has broadened, the application now encompasses more stages, which also increases the possibility of delays and other roadblocks if mistakes are made. To assist with this, you should employ the services of a professional immigration solicitor, who can give you practical advice and ensure that you remain aware of your progress and your responsibilities throughout the process.
