Secondment Worker Visa
The Secondment Worker visa is a new immigration route where your overseas employer is transferring you to the UK to do an eligible job for a different organisation.
The visa route is for workers who plan to undertake temporary work in the UK off the back of a secondment (similar to a referral) as part of a high-value contract or investment by their overseas employer worth at least £50 million between the overseas employer and your UK sponsor.
Applicants will require sponsorship from an authorised sponsor organisation, and the role can not be used to supply resources to vacant roles, fill ongoing routine roles, or provide ongoing routine service for third parties, regardless of the nature or length of any arrangement between the sponsor and third party.
If you are looking to immigrate to the UK by using a Secondment Worker visa, complete your application with the help of expert immigration solicitors, such as those at JMW. Call 0345 872 6666, or fill in our online enquiry form and we will return your call at a later date.

What are the Secondment Worker Visa Application Requirements?
The Secondment Worker visa application requires applicants to meet a number of points, gained by satisfying requirements within the fields of sponsorship and skill level. To be successful, applicants must achieve 40 points across the following categories.
Sponsorship (20)
An applicant must:
- Hold a valid sponsorship, issued by a permitted sponsor, for the role - check this with your organisation.
- Have a registered contract with an overseas business.
- Be currently working for an overseas business that holds a contract with the sponsor organisation and is registered with the Home Office - registration details will be clarified by the Home Office.
Skill Level (20)
An applicant must be in a role that falls within the accepted occupation code - find the list here.
Additionally, applicants will need to meet financial requirements. These will automatically be met if the applicant has been living in the UK for 12 months or longer as of the date of application, or they can show evidence of personal funds, or a certificate of maintenance on their certificate of sponsorship.
The Secondment Worker visa is not a route to settlement, but successful applicants can bring their dependent partner and children. From a date specified after the success of an application, the worker will be allowed to reside in the UK for 12 months, which can be extended by a further two years following a further successful application.
