Ben joined JMW in January 2023 as a Solicitor in the Commercial Litigation Department in Manchester.
He has acted for a variety of clients in a range of commercial and corporate disputes, including claims relating to breach of contract, misrepresentation, misuse of confidential information, technology contracts, professional negligence, and shareholder disputes. In addition, Ben also has wider experience of fields intersecting with commercial litigation, including intellectual property and media disputes, claims relating to contested wills and probate, and insolvency matters including carrying out his own advocacy in winding up petitions.
After graduating with a law degree from Newcastle University, Ben worked as a paralegal at a number of City and international firms, before completing his LPC at the University of Law in Leeds where he obtained an MSc in Law and Business with distinction. He trained at a leading regional firm in Newcastle before joining an independent Manchester firm following qualification. Ben has been a mentor to a number of undergraduate students seeking to develop their careers in law and is always open to providing guidance to aspiring lawyers.
Outside the office Ben is a keen sports fan and supporter of Newcastle United. He also enjoys engaging in charitable endeavours, both fundraising and participating, and in recent years has completed a vertical marathon of Tower 42 in London, taken part in a relay run from Manchester to Newcastle, and completed the Great North Run. Ben spent a significant portion of his childhood abroad and is continually seeking to further his exposure to new countries, cultures and people and the experiences they bring.
