Multi-million-pound shareholder dispute victory
JMW have recently secured a High Court judgment for their shareholder clients in a multi-million-pound shareholder dispute concerning the interests of their claimant clients in a company which operates a golf club in Kent - Magee & Ors v Crocker & Anor [2024] EWHC 1723 (Ch).
How did JMW help?
JMW successfully obtained for their clients a series of declarations upholding the validity of historic share transfers and the novation of a shareholders’ agreement. In addition, the opponent’s counterclaim and separate Part 20 claim against the Fourth Party alleging deceit and fraudulent misrepresentation were dismissed.
JMW’s Commercial Litigation team comprised Steve Morris, Nathan Dean and Ben Blatch-Hanlon. The opponent’s solicitors were City firm Penningtons Manches Cooper.
The judgment followed a 3 week trial in the High Court in front of His Honour Judge Cawson KC. JMW instructed Giles Maynard Connor KC and Amie Boothman, both of Exchange Chambers.
