Hojol Uddin and Elisha Kaur successfully represented Mr A who was at risk of an immediate custodial sentence following charges of Drug Driving, Driving whilst Disqualified and Driving without Insurance. As a previous client of JMW Solicitors, Mr A chose to instruct Hojol and Elisha again not only for his initial interview but also his Court attendance to ensure his position was protected and he was correctly advised.

It was particularly important to ensure that the client was seen cooperating with the Court in relation to his previous matter as he was subjected to a suspended sentence order. Therefore, the prospect of an non-custodial sentence was low.

However, due to the expert representation of JMW Solicitors’ Motoring Department, Mr A was sentenced to a 6-week custodial sentence suspended for 12 months. The suspended sentence order from the previous offence was not activated and the client avoided immediate imprisonment. In addition, the client received 10 further Rehabilitation Activity Requirement Days and £239 in costs.
