On Saturday 9th May 2020, several people within the clinical negligence department at JMW took part in the Virtual Rainbow Ramble, walking, running and cycling up to 11 miles in the glorious sunshine to raise vital funds for Rainbow Hub.

Rainbow Hub is a charity in Lancashire which provides therapeutic services to children and young people with physical disabilities as a result of a brain injury or other life-limiting conditions. The charity offers a diverse range of services, aimed at improving the physical, social and emotional well-being of children with complex needs, as well as reducing stress and isolation in their families.

Rainbow Hub (formerly Rainbow House) organise the Rainbow Ramble to take place in June every year, with the challenge to walk up to five or 11 miles to raise money for the charity. Due to Covid 19, the decision was made this year for the Rainbow Ramble to take place virtually, so that everyone could adhere to social distancing whilst raising vital funds for the charity in their local communities. More than £10,500 has been raised which is a fantastic achievement given that Rainbow Hub stood to lose a total of £30,000 if the event was cancelled altogether. Clearly there is a significant shortfall, however it will go some way to helping the charity to continue to provide its services.  

JMW’s Clinical Negligence department support Rainbow Hub in a number of ways, and have taken part in the Rainbow Ramble year after year. This year was no different. As well as raising money for this charity, which does so much to improve the lives of its children, those involved from JMW were encouraged to go the extra mile with their daily exercise and reap the mental and physical benefits this brought.
