Slip Causes Fracture and Dislocation - £13,500
JMW’s expert personal injury solicitors helped our client to secure £13,500 in compensation after slipping on a wet floor and suffering a fracture and a dislocation to the shoulder while on holiday abroad.
The Case
Ms P was walking through her Greek hotel’s grounds when she suddenly slipped on a wet tiled floor and landed directly on her shoulder. Ms P was not aware of the wet floor before the accident, and there were no wet floor signs in place in the area to warn her. There were also no slip mats in the hotel.
Ms P was taken to Hospital via an ambulance and remained as an inpatient for nine days in a hospital. She continued to have ongoing symptoms for a number of years after the accident and her range of movement was decreased.
The Claim
The hotel denied liability, and disputed as to whether warning signs were properly in place at the time of the accident. We obtained local standards evidence, along with orthopaedic evidence.
Final Settlement
In spite of the defendant’s denial, they made a settlement offer. Ongoing negotiations and Ms P’s desire to settle resulted in a final settlement figure of £13,500.
