The Case

In March 2023, the Claimant was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a severe road traffic accident. The collision resulted in the Claimant sustaining a catastrophic traumatic brain injury, multiple facial fractures, and subsequent hearing and sight difficulties. These injuries significantly impacted the Claimant's quality of life and required immediate and comprehensive medical intervention.

Following the accident, the Claimant developed a serious drug and alcohol dependency that placed them at severe risk of harm. Swift action was needed to secure appropriate care and rehabilitation.

The Claim

JMW was instructed shortly after the accident and, within months, we secured an admission of liability from the Defendant. However, the issue of contributory negligence remains unresolved. Recognising the urgency of the Claimant’s situation, we also secured funding for a 12-month placement in a residential neuro-rehabilitation unit. This placement was critical in addressing the Claimant's immediate needs and mitigating the risk of further harm.

Additionally, we arranged for a case manager to oversee the Claimant's rehabilitation process and deliver a coordinated approach to their care and support.

The case is ongoing, with the final settlement yet to be determined. However, the value of the claim is expected to exceed £3 million, reflecting the severity of the injuries and the extensive care required.
