Heidi Alexander, Secretary of State for Transport, has today (09 April 2025) announced Richard Turfitt as Acting Traffic Commissioner for Scotland. 

This is a temporary measure pending the appointment of a new full-time Traffic Commissioner for Scotland. Recruitment for that post has been ongoing for some time since the resignation of former Traffic Commissioner, Claire Gilmore, in 2024.

Mr Turfitt will continue as Traffic Commissioner for the East of England as well as Senior Traffic Commissioner, although he will step down as Senior Traffic Commissioner at the end of May 2025 and will be replaced from 1 June 2025 by current Traffic Commissioner for the West of England, Kevin Rooney.
